GPS Teacher Witch Hunt Could Cost Millions!

Is this a case of teacher retaliation that backfired?

Staci Burk warned the other Board members, but did they listen? No. And so now, the board has a major mess on its hands, and the taxpayers will be on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Maybe more.

Gilbert Public Schools Controversial "Springboard" Textbooks

On June 5, the GPS Governing Board is expected to discuss and adopt “proposed” math and English language arts textbooks. These books are on display for public view and comment at neighborhood elementary and junior high schools. They are also on display at the GPS Educational Complex, 140 S Gilbert Rd, from 8 am to 4 pm weekdays. The public is invited to review the books and complete an Evaluation Form.

Joshua's Speech

Joshua Smith, a 14-year old Gilbert Classical Academy student in the 8th grade, gave the following public comment at the May 15, 2012 Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board meeting. The board is also depending on the continuation of $17.6 million in property tax override money. The override expires unless the voters approve it at the next election. It’s very likely that the board will ask that the property tax override be sent to the ballot for a vote.
